Untitled Poem by Mandee Snowden-Edmonds

---

Latin:

Mea ventus sonus est verbum "amoris".
Paene coelestis est, annon?
volvitur lingua via;
Purr amantis feline,
Aut in noctem susurros amantis.
Credo in virtute huius verbi tantum
Ut perpetuo pectus haberem
Ad latus sinistrum, super cor
Admonere cum sum vultus down
Quod super omnia credo in amore.
Nominis mei est, post omnes.
Per meos parentes nesciens largitus sum ;
Nomen meum encapsulat prorsus quod sum.
Mulier quae amanda est.
Meo iudicio est etiam mulier quae amare debet
Non enim satis est esse solum esse recipientem;
Imo vero magis ex
Dans plus quam accipimus
Et plus serentes quam metemus.
Hic amor qui nomen meum requirit
Non unice finitur relationis aspectus;
Sed magis videtur in desiderio innato
Singula momenta et in vita mea subjiciunt Romanticize.
Hoc est quod me compulit ad educationem
Ad fabulas fabularum et fabularum iam pridem transiit.
Ad religiosum loqui
Variis tandem peccatis inluminetur.
Nam amorem invenio ubique me converto
Et hoc est quod me tenet inspiratum
Praesertim cum mallem specula mundum ardere.

Hum-orum, tenebrarum, intensa, mundana;
Omnes operam meam requirunt
Per significationem nominis mei.

English Translation:

    My favorite sound is the word “love”.
    It’s almost heavenly, isn’t it?
    The way it rolls off the tongue,
    Like the purr of an affectionate feline,
    Or the whispers of a lover in the night.
    I believe in the power of this word so much
    That I have it permanently emblazoned across my breast
    On the left side, above the heart
    To remind me when I am looking down
    That, above all things, I believe in love.
    It is my namesake, after all.
    Bestowed unknowingly by my parents,
    My name encapsulates exactly what I am.
    A woman who must be loved.
    In my opinion, it is also the woman who must also be loving
    For it is not enough to be merely be the recipient
    Nay, rather, there is more to be derived from
    Giving more than we take
    And sowing more than we reap.
    This love that my name requires
    Is not limited solely to a relationship aspect,
    But more so in the seemingly innate desire I have to
    Romanticize every single moment and subject within my life.
    It is what drives me to education
    To the stories of myths and legends long since past.
    To speak the taboo
    And bring to light various sins at last.
    For I find love everywhere I turn
    And it is what keeps me inspired
    Especially when I would rather watch the world burn.

The hum-drum, the chaotic, the intense, and the mundane,
    All require my fullest attention
    Through the meaning of my name.
